**Job overview**:
To provide clinical leadership for the review and implementation of effective systems and procedures for the management of **patient safety incidents, claims and inquests **within the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a robust patient safety incident response framework across the Trust, in order to support the delivery of high quality, safe and supportive services and the fulfilment of the Trust’s integrated governance priorities.

The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating all patient safety incident activity including the development and / or implementation of policies, risk management strategies, training programmes and audit activity.

To promote learning from patient safety incidents, claims and inquests at a care group and trust wide level.

**Education and Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Current professional regsitration (Nurse, AHP or Social Worker) with a regulatory body.
- Masters degree level educational qualification.
- Postgraduate level qualification/training or equivalent work experience in clinical governance.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Project management qualification
- Teaching and training qualification
- Investigation/root cause analysis/human factors training.

**Knowledge and Expertise**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Extensive working knowledge of governance processes in clinical services and the interface with quality of care and assurance mechanisms
