**Job summary**:
The Government Property Agency (GPA) is at the centre of the Government’s policy on property. It plays a key role in a number of programmes including: Levelling Up. Places for Growth, Net Zero, and Civil Service Reform. An Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office, GPA is growing its capability and capacity to deliver property solutions for all departments across government.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will work closely with the Chief Executive and executive team to lead on all GPA financial matters, improving return on investment and enhancing client satisfaction. The CFO will transform the GPA’s finance function into a highly-professional team, providing commercial insight and support, ensuring GPA delivers its objectives, securing £1.4bn of savings over a ten-year horizon, and driving operational discipline to Improve our service offer to clients.

**Job description**:
Key Responsibilities include:

- As a full member of the Executive Committee, contribute to the overall leadership of the GPA to shape the culture and achieve the strategic objectives defined by the Board;
- Serve as a member of the GPA Board, attend the Audit and Risk Committee and Finance Committee;
- Provide support and challenge to senior colleagues to drive adoption of financial best practice and identify opportunities for improved return on investment and;
- Provide energy and direction to the Finance Team by motivating, managing, mentoring and supporting financial service providers so that a dependable and accurate service is delivered to the GPA and its clients;

**Person specification**:

- Leadership, communication, influencing and relationship-building skills to command confidence as the Chief Financial Officer of a multi-£billion organisation which is set to become one of the largest commercial landlords in the UK;
- Strategic thinking ability, to ensure strategies and associated financial plans are aligned to the wider political environment in which the Agency operates;
- Deep understanding of financial management in property development, asset management and the wider property/real estate sector;
- Strong commercial acumen to advise on land and property acquisitions and disposals, adding commercial value ;
- Ability to deliver transformational change, and upskill and grow the finance function and associated infrastructure in order to support the growth of GPA;
- Knowledge of working with outsourced service providers with a strong customer service ethos;
- An understanding of corporate governance requirements, likely acquired while working at board-level and;
- CCAB (or CIMA) accountancy qualification with significant post-qualification experience.
