Chief Investment Officer
The housing sector continues to evolve, demanding strategic leadership that balances social purpose with commercial rigour. Neemar Search are proud to be partnering with Platform Housing Group in the appointment of a Chief Investment Officer, an accomplished housing leader who will shape the long-term investment, safety, and sustainability of over 50,000 homes across over 90 local authorities in the Midlands.
About Platform & our homes
Platform Housing Group are one of the UK's largest housing associations, owning and managing a diverse portfolio of over 50,000 homes across the Midlands, from Herefordshire in the West to the Lincolnshire coast in the East, and from the Derbyshire Dales in the North to the Cotswolds in the South. Platform works in a number of urban locations, but it is also a significant provider of housing in more rural and suburban locations.
With a £2.4bn asset base and more than 120,000 customers, Platform is a financially strong and forward-looking organisation with a clear social purpose: to deliver a customer-first housing experience and to invest in people and places to build a stronger, more sustainable future.
Our portfolio includes homes for affordable and social rent, shared ownership, supported housing, and retirement living, underpinned by a commitment to quality, safety, and community impact.
Sustainability, including ESG and social value, is an area where Platform has strong ambitions and we have been investing over the last year in the skills we need to drive this forward, under the corporate leadership of this Chief Investment Officer role.
Where are we on the journey with our existing homes?
We have made significant progress over the last 12 months with respect to how we manage our existing homes.
The new postholder will join a journey that has already started and where momentum is already being built, but at an early enough stage that gives many opportunities to shape the future and deliver lasting change.
We believe the combination of our portfolio, financial strength and committed colleagues means this is a role where the postholder can aim high and move us over time to become genuine sector leaders in asset management.
Above all, the organisation is committed to and ready to support investment in our existing homes so that they are warm, safe and comfortable for our customers.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive, the Chief Investment Officer will be the strategic lead for Asset Investment and Management, Building Safety and Compliance, and Facilities Management.
This pivotal role carries responsibility for ensuring Platform's homes are safe, well-maintained, and sustainable, while driving long-term asset value and supporting excellent customer outcomes.
As part of the Executive Team, you will take collective responsibility for leading the organisation, shaping culture, and delivering the Group's corporate strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of Platform's Asset Management Strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer needs.
- Lead the development and delivery of Platform's Sustainability Strategy, including retrofit, net zero, biodiversity and social value.
- Lead the development and delivery of a refreshed workplaces strategy, supporting our wider people offer and cultural aspirations
- Oversee all aspects of Building Safety, Compliance, Sustainability, and Facilities Management.
- Direct the long-term investment planning of the Group's £2.4bn housing portfolio, ensuring quality, safety, and financial sustainability.
- Ensure the effective management of cyclical and planned maintenance programmes that deliver excellent customer outcomes.
- Lead and inspire a large, multi-disciplinary directorate with a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee significant capital and revenue budgets, ensuring a strong Value for Money approach.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, regulators, and sector partners to enhance Platform's reputation and influence.
- Play a key role as an Executive Team member, contributing to strategic decision-making and corporate leadership.
Key Attributes
- A proven housing sector leader with substantial experience in sustainability, asset management, investment, or property services within a large, complex housing organisation.
- A deep understanding of housing regulation, building safety, compliance, and sustainability frameworks.
- Strong financial acumen with experience of managing large-scale budgets and investment programmes.
- Strategic, analytical, and commercially astute, with the ability to translate vision into operational delivery.
- An inspirational and visible leader who empowers teams, drives performance, and promotes a culture of innovation and accountability, working in a hybrid environment
- A credible and collaborative communicator who builds trust across our organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Values-driven and customer-focused, with a clear commitment to social purpose and community outcomes.
This is a uniquely positioned role in a financially robust, sector-leading business. The generous salary and benefits package reflect this.
If you have proven experience at senior or executive level, at scale, and relish a challenge, then get in touch.
