Temporary Accommodation Allocations Officer

Working in our Housing Department we are looking for someone to be responsible for the day to day management of temporary accommodation placements.
You will ensure that all properties that are provided for use as temporary accommodation are matched to a suitable applicant in a timely manner with all associated paperwork/system work is completed accurately and quickly.
You will complete the sign up process for clients and ensure that rent accounts have been set up to maximise the collection of rent and service charges.
A focus of the role will to:
Maximise the income collection
Ensure that the units of temporary accommodation are used economically and effectively; that they remain in a good state of repair and compliant to statutory standards with regard to Health and Safety and suitability.
Maintain effective communication and be the department's point of contact for; homeless households living in hostel and privately leased accommodation, Landlords and agents of accommodation providers and all associated internal and external organisations.
Ensure all records relating to the units of temporary accommodation and residents are up to date and accurate.
Knowledge of Northgate required.
Your duties will include:
Monitoring and making best use of vacancies in temporary accommodation
Ensuring properties used meet necessary standards and resolving complaints
Creating and closing rent accounts
Liaising with residents in temporary and short stay accommodation with regard to their rent accounts
Creating offer letters and preparing sign up documentation for homeless applicants as required
Explaining the councils policy and approach to responding to housing advice and homelessness as required
Creating and sustaining links with our partner organisations
You will need to have excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise a heavy workload and have a good telephone manner as your work will involve dealing with the general public. In addition you will use your own initiative, possess a methodical approach to work and have the ability to follow through a variety of complex tasks to satisfactory completion.
