BACKGROUND OF CLIFTON HOUSING PROJECT

Supportive housing is aimed at people suffering from complex mental health and drug addictions which makes it difficult for them to handle in an unstable setting such as homelessness. Tenants have access to a wide range of services to enable them to integrate back into the community. By providing a roof over their heads Clifton Housing gives the individual an opportunity to deal with the complex health and life issues they face.

Clifton Housing Project has gone from strength to strength and has been growing steadily over the last few years, providing much needed accommodation to vulnerable adults experiencing challenging behaviours and mental illnesses, to gain recovery back to independence.

Clifton Housing Project provides a high level of support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are totally devoted to the needs of our service users and highly motivate each individual to improve their level of stability.

Our project aims to grow and deepen the services provided by working in collaboration with other agencies and local authorities in improving the rights to services for our residents. We are committed to ensuring that each individual of the community of Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell can access and make full use of our services.

Our mission is to support them with their recovery and enable them to return to a stable life within the community and to obtain permanent and affordable housing.

VOLUNTEER SUPPORT WORKER -
Accountable to: Service Manager

Salary - £11.28 per hour

37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday

Expenses - to be claimed monthly

Responsible for: Working with a caseload of up to 25 service users who reside in properties of Clifton Housing Project you will ensure we are offering a high-quality support service for vulnerable adults within the Clifton Housing Project. Working with colleagues, third party agencies and with the people living with Clifton Housing Project to promote our core values (COMMIT, ACT, RESPOND ANDEMPATHISE) and fulfil and further the aims and objectives of the service. Which is to support independent living and lead a fulfilling life.

Main Objectives: As a floating support worker you will ensure a safe, secure, and stimulating environment in which the service users are supported to exercise their rights, use their opportunities and be aware of and meet their responsibilities within their tenancy and the wider community.

As floating support worker, you will provide a high-quality outreach service which creatively addresses the needs and risk of individuals. This role has potential weekend working and night working hours also.

As a support worker, you will be supporting service users with a range of issues including, offending issues, facing homelessness, Drug and alcohol abuse issues. The support worker will signpost services users to external services within this role and support their caseload with tenancy sustainment. Assessing referrals and placing in properties, liaising with external agencies, and conducting assessments of needs and risk. The volunteer support worker will Conduct tenancy sign ups, assistance to ensure that service users understand their rights and responsibilities under the agreement along with how to comply with these rules and the consequences of noncompliance.

The floating support worker will be providing group work to enhance independent living skills, and able to handle your own caseload of up to 25 service users, including liaising with internal management systems and external bodies. The floating support worker will be committed to helping those the most in need to transform their lives by maximising their skills and pressing towards Independence and exiting from our service once we have achieved the best possible outcomes.

Limits of Authority: To work within agreed budgets and policies and procedures of Clifton housing Project. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the necessary departments when required. Collection of service charges on a weekly / fortnightly / monthly basis.

What you'll need to succeed

You're required to have a full driving license and own transport paired with 2 + years’ experience working within a housing support position. Experience of signposting and working with various agencies / partners i.e., Local Auth
