**Westholme School, established in 1923, is a successful independent school located on the rural outskirts of Blackburn. The school is based across 2 sites, providing a first class education to around 700 pupils, aged 4 years - 18 years.

Westholme School is seeking to appoint a motivated and reliable School Mini Bus driver to transport pupils to and from school on a daily basis during term time.

Applicants must have a calm, professional approach and hold a full, clean driving licence with D1 Category.

As a member of the school’s Estates team you will play an important role driving one of the school’s fleet of mini-buses in a responsible and competent manner and will supervise pupils to and from school.

As a mini-bus driver you will be responsible for the care, health and safety of yourself, pupils in charge, your colleagues and all other people who could be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

There may be occasions when the mini-bus driver will be required to work additional hours (with notice) or transport colleagues/pupils to other sites.

Job Description

Job title: School Mini-bus Driver
Location: To work across all sites
Responsible to: Estates Manager
Role Summary:
School mini-bus driver will transport pupils to and from school, adhering to school policies in relation to Health and Safety and Safeguarding. The driver will act as an ambassador for the school, ensuring at all times to promote and act in accordance with the school’s values and ethos.
In addition, there may be occasions when the mini-bus driver will be required to work additional hours (with notice) or transport colleagues/pupils to other sites.

Key Responsibilities:

- Transport pupils to and from school.
- Ensure mini-bus has sufficient fuel for the required journeys.
- Inspect mini-bus before and after the school run.
- Ensure mini-bus is kept clean and tidy.
- Ensure pupils behave in an appropriate and safe manner during transport.
- Report pupils conduct to relevant staff as appropriate.
Essential Requirements:
- Hold a current, clean and valid driving licence D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence or D1 restricted (car licence obtained prior to 01/01/1997)
- Age 25+ (for insurance purposes).
- Geographical knowledge of the local area.
- Competent to undertake vehicle checks and carry out basic maintenance.
- Be prepared to undergo additional training as required
- Be prepared to undertake safeguarding training and submit to a DBS with barred list check

Desirable requirements
- Previous driving experience - ideally in passenger transport.
- PCV licence holder.
- First Aid qualification
