**Summary of Post**:
As the Youth Programme Coordinator, you will support young people of Irish and other heritage to develop and deliver youth programmes, organise events, support and mentor young people, handle administrative tasks, coordinate outreach activities, ensure safeguarding compliance, and manage promotional efforts. This role is crucial in creating a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment where young people can thrive and reach their full potential.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Programme Development and Coordination**: Develop and deliver youth programmes, ensuring they are engaging and meet the needs of young people.
- **Staff, Volunteer and Sessional Worker Management**: Recruiting, training, and overseeing team members to ensure effective collaboration and achievement of organisational goals.
- **Event Management**: Organise and oversee special events, workshops, and activities, ensuring they run smoothly and within budget.
- **Youth Engagement**: Welcome and support young people, encouraging their participation in activities and addressing their needs.
- **Mentoring and Support**: Provide mentoring and coaching to young people, helping them develop self-awareness, independence, and resilience.
- **Administration**: Handle administrative tasks such as data entry, reporting, and maintaining records in line with funding and contractual requirements.
- **Outreach**: Coordinate outreach activities in schools and communities to promote the programme and recruit new participants.
- **Safeguarding**: Ensure all activities comply with child protection and safeguarding policies.
- **Promotion**: Manage promotional activities, including social media updates and creating marketing materials.
**Person Specification**
**EXPERIENCE/SKILLS**
**Essential**
- Previous experience in youth work or programme coordination including health and safety, equal opportunities and safeguarding.
- Recruiting, training, and overseeing staff and volunteers.
- Friendly, positive, and self-driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent administration and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and plan time effectively to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
- Ability to form constructive professional relationships with young people to design, deliver and evaluate appropriate curriculum-based youth work programmes in an informal setting which result in clear learning outcomes and the achievement of targets.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with young people, adults and other agencies: e.g. report writing, making presentations and facilitation of groups.
**Desirable**
- Experience of working within DofE and in collaboration with schools and partner agencies.
- Access to a car and the ability to drive.
**KNOWLEDGE**
**Essential**
- Understanding of relevant legislation, local and national issues affecting young people, and best practices in youth work.
- Statutory and voluntary sector support services across Luton relevant to the needs of the users
- The Irish and other communities in Luton and surrounding counties and issues relating to their experience
