Role Overview
The Software Engineer (SE) job role covers a wide range of technology focused jobs within Bupa Group Technology and Information Services. The actual department and role that a Software Engineer may work in will also vary. The job purpose may include all or some of the following aspects.
To participate in or undertake the technical analysis, specification, estimation, development, implementation, and support of software solutions, working with business users, third parties, and other BBS-IT colleagues, as appropriate
What you’ll do:
There will be a wide range of technical accountabilities and activities performed by the job holder depending on the specific discipline e.g. development, support and environment Configuration.
Impact assess and validate technical solutions with guidance
- Participate in the documentation of technical solutions
- Perform proof of concepts to ensure end to end solutions are fit for purpose
Provide input to projects and solution delivery teams regarding the technologies within their domain
- Take part in implementation activities, change control and release planning
- Take ownership for resolving IT related problems within their domain, which directly or indirectly impact on the operational services or development
- Establish and maintain credibility and working relationships with other IT teams, being an ambassador for IT within the business community, supporting a customer service culture.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in PL/SQL is an advantage
- Experience in.NET C# is an advantage
- IT graduate or equivalent experience working in an IT service delivery role
- Knowledge and experience of IT technologies
- Strong communication skills, good team player
- ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation
- Logical approach to software solutions and problem solving
- Be proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues, and escalate appropriately
- Able to adapt to different situations requiring interpretive and constructive thinking and a degree of evaluative judgement
