**The Role**:
- Build and evaluate novel device structures and testing methods
**About You**:
- Ideally a scientific degree **and/or** industrial experience in a relevant field with strong, applied, hands-on experimental skills
- Knowledge and experience of**some or all** of the following areas:
- Surface chemistry, functionalisation and processing with proteins/enzymes required for fabrication
- Build, test and characterisation (e.g. optical, electrochemical, magnetic)
- Use and optimisation of electrochemical techniques to monitor biochemical systems (cyclic-voltammetry/chronoamperometry/electrochemical impedance spectroscopy etc)
- Characterisation using surface analytical techniques (e.g. AFM, Raman, FTIR, XPS)
- Fabrication and characterisation of 2D devices and sensors
**Any of the following experience would also be very useful**:
- Materials deposition techniques, e.g. screen printing, thermal evaporation
- Imaging and analysis of biomolecular systems
- Experience of bioMEMS
- Development of ELISA or other immunoassays.
- Experience with microfluidic devices.
- Experience of 2D materials
