Job Brief: Senior RA/Associate Scientist - Protein Expression

We are looking for a talented lab-based scientist to become a key member of our Protein Science team. You’ll be working as a protein expression scientist specialising in transient mammalian antibody and target protein production. The Protein Sciences team has a broad remit working closely together to support all aspects of protein production and characterisation to help drive forwards our immuno-oncology drug discovery pipeline. The role will involve making significant contributions to both Protein Sciences and to therapeutic project teams.

Key Responsibilities
- You will be a key member of our protein production pipeline, working closely with our DNA and protein purification scientists to turn DNA into protein
- Be responsible for the maintenance of our mammalian expression host cell lines (both CHO and HEK)
- Perform transient expression to produce antibodies, antibody-like formats, and other proteins at various scales (from microtiter plates to multi-litre).
- Evaluate new protein expression technologies, procedures, and technical developments for their suitability for our needs.
- Advance our use of automation.
- Work on the optimisation of protein expression methods to improve expressions at all scales and to make the pipeline as smooth and robust as possible.
- Have a good understanding of company priorities and a flexible approach to changing demands to help the company meet its goals.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in protein expression for drug discovery gained either in academia or industry.
- Knowledge of industry standard mammalian expression systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across scientific disciplines and to small and large teams.
- Demonstrated ability of planning effective experiments, data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience of troubleshooting expression of challenging proteins.
- A background in therapeutic proteins and knowledge of novel protein modalities (e.g. bispecifics, fusion proteins) is an advantage.

Pay: From £36,000.00 per year
