**Job summary**:

The Catering and Events Department of the Property Division at Imperial College London operates various cafés and restaurants located within the South Kensington, Hammersmith and White City Campuses. The department aims to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial College community.
Your role will be to conduct and supervise the service of food and beverages within Imperial’s catering units in accordance with pre-agreed budgets and ensure compliance with Imperial/Department policies and health and hygiene legislation. You will be an effective communicator, able to monitor and support staff, assist with training, and promote customer friendly service and teamwork.
As a successful Team Leader, you will be able to demonstrate your experience of working within a fast-paced catering environment and effectively supervising staff.
We are looking for a Team Leader to predominantly work at our Hammersmith Campus, London W12 however you will be required to work in any of the Catering Outlets and Venues across all Imperial Campuses.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
- Coordinating all relevant staff and team members to deliver a professional and efficient service
- Ordering and receiving goods to maintain an adequate service within food budget targets
- Leading on the security, general repair, and cleanliness of the venue(s) for which you will be responsible
- Being responsible for receiving and recording customer feedback as well as promoting a customer-friendly service
- Fostering a positive working environment and promote teamwork
- Assisting with identifying areas of customer service where improvements can be made and working to implement solutions
- Assist with the arranging and/or delivering of staff training programmes, as required, to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service
**Essential requirements**:
- Previous experience of effectively supervising a team, with proven ability to motivate and lead team members
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to present and deliver information in an appropriate manner to staff at all levels at the College
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety at work and associated regulations/legislative requirements
- Numerical skills, sufficient to be able to deal with cash transactions effectively and accurately
- The ability to use your own initiative with limited supervision, in order to deal with problems which may hinder the delivery of an effective service
- Excellent organisational and time management skills

**Further Information**:
The standard working week consists of 37 hours, 5 days out of 7, day rota and on occasion working evenings and weekends.
