Pay Rate to Intermediary: £420 per day negotiable

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To provide expert safeguarding advice, support and leadership at all levels of the organisation, including front line clinical staff, support staff, corporate functions and those working at board level.
- To manage and supervise the Safeguarding Leads/Named Nurses, and ensure that the resource is deployed in as equitable and responsive a way as possible.
- To advise on the safeguarding implications of commissioning decisions, changes in national and local policy and service delivery.
- To advise on service developments to ensure they take into account the specific needs of children whose parents use services delivered by client.
- To develop and maintain excellent and sustainable working relationships with all relevant multi-agency partners.
- To ensure the delivery of the organisation’s statutory duties in relation to adult and child safeguarding.
- To ensure the delivery of statutory and mandatory and specialist safeguarding training.
- To represent the organisation and/or deputise for the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Experience at the Safeguarding Boards.
- To ensure the organisation contributes to the work of Safeguarding Board sub-groups.
- To lead on the “Prevent” counter-terrorism initiative on behalf of client and ensure representation on the Channel Panel.
- To ensure client engagement with the MARAC and MAPPA processes.
- To represent client at the MAPPA Strategic Management Board.
- To provide clinical staff with advice and guidance on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/Liberty Protection Safeguards and the Mental Capacity Act.
- To ensure client is represented at local MCA/DoLS forums.
- To lead on the development of client safeguarding policies & procedures, practice guidance, quality and audit arrangements.
- To carry out investigations, produce IMR’s, and participate on Serious Case Review Panels and in Domestic Homicide reviews on behalf of client as required.
- To lead on the implementation of lessons learnt from Serious Case Reviews, Domestic Homicide reviews and other relevant investigations and enquiries.
- To carry out audits of client compliance with Safeguarding legislation, standards and best practice.
- To plan, develop and carry out research and identify best practice in the field of safeguarding.
- To advise on the implementation of relevant national policy within the Trust.
- To work jointly on complex cases with practitioners providing support, supervision and expert advice.
- To reinforce the need for care plans that reflect the needs and risks for children and adults at risk and that there is a process for sharing information with partner agencies.
- To lead on the development, monitoring and review of policies, procedures and guidelines for all Trust staff in the safeguarding of Children and adults at risk.
- To chair and provide leadership to the client Joint Safeguarding Group.
- To develop ways of triangulating safeguarding activity and information collected by client with that of the Boards and partner organisations.
- To lead on ensuring and demonstrating compliance with relevant health and social care standards.
- To identify good practice in the field of Safeguarding and disseminate it throughout client.
- To work within legal, professional and ethical frameworks established through national and local policy.
- To work with Universities in the development of curricula to support the development of child and adult safeguarding courses specific to the needs of the users of mental health services.
- To advise on the vetting and barring of staff including participation on the client Panel.
- To provide expert safeguarding advice when allegations are made against staff, including participation on disciplinary panels.
