Water Land and Biodiversity Asset Management
2 days ago
We are the Environment Agency. We work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to manage the impacts of climate change, perhaps the most serious long-term threat to the environment, people, and wildlife.
- The Water, Land & Biodiversity (WLB) asset management programme aims to improve the way WLB assets are managed by implementing an asset management system that provides the framework, system, and processes for a whole lifecycle approach to asset management. Ensuring assets are safe, effective, resilient and that our future investment requirements are fully understood. This also underpins our risk-based approach to help us plan our work and target our resources effectively. You will be collating information on WLB assets outside on the ground and implementing a programme of visual inspection of the assets to understand their condition, identifying issues, liaising with colleagues to correct defects. You will also be desk-based processing the asset information in the asset management database.
- In summary, this role will include:
- Inspecting WLB assets across our Area.
- Assessing the condition of these assets/recording of these assessments on to our asset management database
- Assisting WLB Area/national asset management staff where required
- Assisting Area WLB Asset Management Technical lead
The team
- Working with our friendly and dedicated team, you will report directly to the WLB Asset Team Leader. Your workload will largely be guided by the Area WLB Asset Management Technical Lead. You will also work with other teams in matters relating to asset management. You will be required to support National and Area asset management teams.
Experience/skills required
- Experience in asset management, direct involvement in projects or in the delivery of asset maintenance work is an advantageous but not essential, however the ability to manage a varied workload is vital.
- The following knowledge / experience would be beneficial:
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering, and maintaining data and information
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to achieve planned outcomes
- Knowledge of Water, Land and Biodiversity
- Some exposure to engineering projects would be desirable.
You will need a full UK Driving licence and must be able to swim and be confident around water.
Contact and additional information
- We are fully committed to being an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce.-
- This role can be based in Addington or Tonbridge, or Canterbury and interviews will be held at the end of August.
