Head of Commercial/business Partnering

The Commercial function reports to the Chief Finance Officer. The function selects and manages third party suppliers across M&G. The aim of the function is to protect the business against commercial, operational and regulatory risk whilst delivering value for money for budget holders. The function will develop, agree and communicate the procurement strategy and will deliver procurement services to the organisation including running procurement projects, managing renewals, putting in place effective and appropriate contracts with appropriate suppliers and managing the purchase to payment (P2P) process for supplier invoices.

Key responsibilities:
- To develop strong working relationships with the management teams across all areas of the business, providing insight into potential commercial opportunities and input into business unit strategy- To lead the Commercial teams to deliver exceptional commercial arrangements delivering benefits and outcomes in support the different business units- To support the business units to drive improvements with a focus on Customer, ESG, business optimisation, growth and cost efficiency where engaging with third party supply chain- To support the wider Commercial function as a senior member of the function- To lead on resolving difficult and challenging issues and opportunities and successfully implementing outcomes- To lead on negotiating with suppliers on large scale complex arrangements

Knowledge:
- Excellent Commercial knowledge from business optimisation through to leveraging 3rd parties to maximise business benefit- Excellent business transformation knowledge spanning strategy and operating model development through to successful implementation- Excellent knowledge of supplier negotiations leading and delivering large scale complex deals- Expert written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders- Expertise in creating Powerpoint slides- Strong analytical skills with ability to operate independently, taking, owning and resolving complex issues

**Experience**:
- Essential - experience of negotiating complex BPO type deals with third party suppliers across a range of different categories- Essential - experience of business partnering, managing senior stakeholders across range of different specialisms e.g. Technology, Finance, Sales, Operations, with the ability to effectively build relationships and influence outcomes.- Essential - Experience leading & motivating teams (both direct and matrix) to deliver excellent results and creating a culture to support high performance and support- Preferred - Experience of delivery large scale transformational change across multiple businesses to deliver commercial outcomes.

- Take an active lead in helping each person in your team perform to their best and understand how their work contributes to the achievement of business success- Proven ability to effectively challenge and influence business stakeholders- Pragmatic, with good judgement and commercial acumen.- Strong analytical and problem solving skills but also adept at ‘Big Picture’ thinking
