An exciting opportunity the Associate Director for AHPs post has arisen for a registered AHP, recognised as one of the 14 Allied Health Professionals. You will be an integral part of the Trust’s Senior Nursing, AHP & Quality team reporting directly to the Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality. You will have the lead responsibility for AHP Governance; including quality, workforce capacity and capability, education, professional standards and regulation. You will provide senior professional leadership to the AHP workforce.

You will be a highly visible, proactive and compassionate clinical leader with a significant proven track record of AHP leadership and extensive knowledge of contemporary AHP drivers, policy and practice, across the Trust, ICS, regionally and nationally. You will ensure the sustained delivery of high standards of AHP services and have service user and carer Involvement at the heart of everything you do. You will promote AHP engagement, ensuring AHPs contribute to and influence decision-making, and are integral to building sustainable relationships and stewardship for the Trust.

The post holder is accountable for the quality and governance of allied health professional (AHP) services within the Trust, providing senior level professional leadership to the AHP workforce, including development and monitoring of professional standards across the Trust and leading the development and implementation of a Trust wide framework for AHP governance, quality, workforce and education. Provide senior professional leadership for the Trust on all matters regarding pre and post basic AHP education, including liaison with education and university partners. Represent the Trust on system wide ICS AHP leadership forums.

You will provide professional leadership and advice to AHP staff in all areas of the Divisions, ensuring that corporate objectives inform all aspects of decision making and will line manage the Trust wide ACP lead. Directorate AHP heads/leads will report professionally to you, although their posts will remain line managed within the Directorates or Service

You will advise the Board, the Divisional Management Teams, Clinical Directors, senior managers and professional staff on issues related to AHPs within the Divisions to ensure compliance with national and local agendas.

The post holder will possess an up to date and contemporary understanding of all issues relating to AHPs including education, regulation and professional standards and accountability. The Trust employs approximately 680 AHPs plus associated support staff from 10 different AHP professions, each of whom have their own professional body and are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

You must be able to lead and contribute to areas of modernisation, redesign and service improvement relating to multi-disciplinary services. They will provide accurate advice and support across all AHP professions, as the Trusts lead authority for AHPs and provide the Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality with expert advice as required, noting that the requirements and regulations for each profession are not always the same.

A senior member of the Nursing, AHP and Quality leadership team, this key role works collaboratively with the Associate Director’s of Psychology, Medicine, Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience.
