This is an exciting time at the Heaton Cooper Studio. We’re looking for the right person to join our retail team, working alongside the Managing Director and Assistant Retail Manager, with specific responsibility for overseeing our web sales and developing this aspect of our business.

The Heaton Cooper Studio is a fourth-generation family business, which has built an unrivalled reputation for representing the iconic landscape art of the Heaton Cooper family of artists, spanning over 150 years.

Over the past five years the business has expanded exponentially; we have diversified our traditional offer of reproduction fine art prints to bring the well-known Heaton Cooper art into a more relevant and exciting format, alongside the expansion of our art supplies shop, and the addition of stylish gifts, homewares and art books. Underpinning the retail part of the operation, we have original paintings for sale, and an exciting exhibition program in our Archive gallery.

During 2017 we extended the building to create Mathilde’s café, which quickly gained a reputation for high-quality, beautifully presented food, utilising the family’s Scandinavian and Cumbrian heritage on the menu, all in an inspirational location.

The whole site now welcomes up to 95,000 visitors a year. The service and food offering reflects the style and cultural history of the artwork, drawing on the Scandinavian heritage of the Heaton Cooper family.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we saw our web sales increase dramatically. We’re now looking for a new team member with the skills we need to help us maximise this area of growth.

Job Specifics
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day processes of web sales, including preparing and packing orders for postage
- Monitor and update stock levels on the website and database
- Keep the website up to date with accurate information about each product, including photographs and detailed product description
- Identify opportunities to increase our web sales and work to maximise growth in this area of the business
- Manage and process retail stock orders and keep accurate records using Microsoft Access and Shopify
- Provide accurate stock level information, assisting with routine stock takes and full annual stock take, flagging items which are low in stock or sold out
- Monitor stock prices and ensure stock is accurately priced at POS
- Assist with unpacking deliveries of stock, checking current prices, preparing items for sale and storing stock in an organised way
- Liaise with suppliers regarding missing/damaged items or returns
- Ensure consistency between items on the website and in the shop
- Make sure all original paintings for sale are listed on the website, with quality images and description
- Ensure all sales records are completed according to our processes, and information is kept secure and up to date
- Use social media to drive sales
- Assist in the retail operation of the gallery, providing a friendly welcome and exceptional customer service to our customers

About You
- Excellent IT skills, and a competent user of MS Excel and Access
- Some experience of website management and/or web sales
- Experience of stock management software
- Confident social media user, able to create interesting posts on multiple platforms
- Experience of Photoshop would be desirable
- Process driven, able to find efficient ways of working and follow a clear set of procedures
- Strong communication skills and well-organised
- An eye for detail, able to spot errors or discrepancies
- A good team worker, able to work well with colleagues to deliver a high-quality customer experience
- An eye for current trends and interesting products
- A sense of humour and a positive attitude to face into day-to-day problems
- An interest in art, the Lake District, and the art of the Heaton Cooper family is desirable.

**Salary**: Up to £23,000.00 per year
