If so, Parker Franklyn is assisting a regional insurance business that is looking to appoint a Trainee Development/ Account Executive to its team in Wakefield. The company control circa £15m in written premium and have 15 people within the business. TheMD is a time-served insurance professional that looks to build long-term client relationships, grow by appointing quality people with the right behaviours, and generously reward staff for their hard work and commitment. They invest heavily, in both time andmoney, to bring good people through the ranks. Seldom will a business, especially in the current staff shortage market, commit the time and energy in developing staff into competent Account Executives/ Developers.

Your role will be to speak to businesses across a wide range of industry sectors, via pre-arranged calls, to obtain their business insurance requirements. The prospective clients will be paying premiums from around £5k - £75k, with minimum income levelsof £1.5k, so there will some interesting and challenging risks in there, and you will have the opportunity to go out and visit them to help build the relationship. Also, you have the choice of either managing the clients through the policy period and at renewalor focusing purely on the new business aspect of the journey. You’ll receive a lot of support technically from the knowledgeable team in place, which will help drive your product understanding and competence extremely quickly.

Experience wise, they are looking for someone that has some knowledge of commercial insurance products, whether than is cross-class or just one niche area, as they will be able to upskill you as mentioned above. It is essential that you enjoy the processof new business, and have the personality, confidence and commitment to succeed in this, as well as having examples of where you have excelled in this area. You must be someone that is quick to learn new skills and has the desire to do so, you will be givena lot of time and care in your development, so you’ll be expected to take advantage of this. You will be tenacious, proactive, and focused on being the best you possibly can be, ultimately though, you will be a genuinely nice person that cares about solvingyour clients’/ prospects problems.

In return, you will receive a basic salary commensurate with your experience, so even seasoned developers will be considered. There is a generous bonus structure which will give you the opportunity to earn 10% of any income generated from new business wins,a nice carrot dangled for your hard work. There is onsite parking and good public transport links from Leeds on both bus and train. Most importantly, for those eager to make the jump into an Account Executive role, you will get the support, time and knowledgeto be successful in your field - all in return for your hard work and commitment.
