A large Housing Association in London is looking to recruit a new VAT Manager. Working closely with the Head of Tax ans with oversight of the work of the Tax Accountant the responsibilities of the VAT Manager are:
- Review all VAT returns ensuring the returns are accurate and complete prior to sign off.
- Support operations teams with CIS support and supplier verifications.
- Review Capital Goods Scheme, Partial Exemption Special Method and Partial Exemption Standard method calculations, assist Tax Accountant where required.
- Identify tax compliance risks/opportunities.
- Ensure the Group’s full compliance with all new VAT tax legislation. Inform the business of any changes that may affect the organisation, monitor VAT rate changes ensuring Finance systems are updated accordingly.
- Organise and deliver VAT training sessions to the wider business.
- Provide detailed VAT advice on all new development/land projects, liaising with project teams as necessary.
- Respond to ad-hoc VAT queries from the business, supporting the Head of Tax across other taxes included corporation tax, SDLT and CIS.
- Assisting with managing the relationship with HMRC.
- Qualified accountant ( ACA / ACCA ) or CTA
- Post qualification indirect tax experience covering technical VAT and systems
- Strong communication skills with an ability to explain technical issues
- Attention to detail skills
- Experience from within the charity/social housing sector desireable but could also be an opportunity for someone wanting to step into the social housing sector with relevant experience
- Experience with Oracle preferred but not essential
They are looking for someone who can start ASAP. The role will be hybrid working with 2 days per week expected in the office. It is paying up to £73,500 per year.
