Head of General Radiology

The post holder will support the Associate Director Of Allied Health Professions (Diagnostic) in providing effective leadership using wide ranging, specialist, professional, clinical and managerial knowledge, skills and experience of general radiology, having delegated responsibilities for specific areas of performance of the department (as defined within the Trust Devolution Policy). The post holder will take clinical and leadership responsibility for general radiology at the Scunthorpe and Goole sites. The post holder must be state registered under the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). In addition to clinical expertise, the post holder also requires a high level of tact, diplomacy and management expertise. The post holder will also work closely with the Diagnostics Administrative team leaders, supported by the Diagnostics Business Manager to ensure activity and patient flow are supported.
It is anticipated that the post holder will work approximately 60% in a managerial role. The post holder will be responsible for developing and managing general radiology services at their designated base site within Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Trust which encompasses North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and East Riding of Yorkshire, ensuring that the services are structured to meet the needs of service users. Working with the Associate Director of Allied Health Professions & the Head of Governance this will also include collaborating with other organisations and agencies to deliver effective services across the health community. Most of the procedures/examinations are available to the local Primary Care Trusts via direct access arrangements. The post holder will actively participate in projects supporting and engaging within this modality as a whole to support cross site/cross Trust working.
In conjunction with the Associate Director of Allied Health Professions the post holder will ensure that general radiology are managed within budget, to agreed quality standards and in accordance with agreed activity levels. The post holder is responsible and accountable for a delegated annual budget for general radiology. The post holder is also responsible for the effective management of staff and physical resources to maximise efficiency and quality of service.
