The Role

As a Conservation Officer, you will support delivery of ecologically beneficial land management work across our National Park.

You will lead the day-to-day management of the Levisham Estate, including administration of Countryside Stewardship agreements, manage volunteer groups and work with land managers.

Arranging inspections, site visits and botanical surveys, you will liaise with land managers and co-ordinate linked conservation tasks. You will support, maintain and develop existing volunteering opportunities, increasing the scope and reach of our conservation work.

**Additionally, you will**:

- Guide the day-to-day work of the Conservation Trainee
- Maintain good working relationships with all tenants and other estate users
- Support income development for the estate and National Park
- Develop and deliver the Levisham Estate Management Plan
- Support the development and administration of new conservation grant schemes

About You

**To be considered as a Conservation Officer, you will need**:

- At least three years’ experience in a relevant field
- Experience of working with volunteers in a line-management capacity
- Experience in communication methods, from written communication to workshops and one-to-one meetings
- Experience of working in rural areas
- Experience of following finance and procurement protocols, managing contracts and consultants undertaking remote activities
- Ecological understanding of protected sites and species and scheduled monuments
- Working knowledge of GIS packages
- A keen interest in and firm commitment to, conservation of the North York Moors as well as a commitment to the aims and values of the National Park Authority
- A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle and prepared to use for work purposes if necessary
- The ability to work occasional weekends and evenings

Evidence of continued professional development would also be advantageous.
