- **Both these roles can be based anywhere in the North region as the workload will be flexible across different locations. We have 4 hubs which you can based from - Altrincham, Grasmere, York and Newcastle**_

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- A good knowledge of professional building consultancy across complex portfolios
- You will be a full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors/Chartered Institute of Building
- A good understanding of planning and delivering a programme of works / project
- An understanding of relevant legislation and best practice
- A knowledge of contract appointment and administration
- Excellent verbal and written communicator, with great interpersonal skills

What it's like to work here We are looking for 2 Building Surveyors to deliver conservation work across the National Trust properties in the North. Both roles will cover the whole of the North Region, based out of 1 of 4 Hubs - York, Newcastle, Altrincham, or Grasmere - and will thereforeinclude some travelling. We use a hybrid working model which enables a mix of home, office and on site working.

**Grade 6 x 1** - This role will work across a number and range of small to medium construction projects and programmes. This role requires less detailed conservation knowledge and would suit someone wanting to learn more about heritage conservationbuilding work. IRC 113655.

**Grade 5 x 1** - This role requires in depth conservation building knowledge and will work on high value large projects and programmes of work. A high level of experience and ability to work at pace in complex technical situations is required.IRC 113668

Both these roles are **fixed term of 2 years** with the potential for extending them further, and need to be a Chartered building surveyor with RICS or CIOB

What you'll be doing You’ll be working on amazing properties and every day will be different. One day looking at a Grade 1 listed mansion, the next working with contractors or trusted associates, to surveying one of our fantastic assets.

You’ll be a key player in ensuring that some of the finest buildings in the region are well looked after. Your work may be focussed on planned maintenance, reactive repairs, or project work for our in-hand estate, and you’ll be taking work from inceptionto delivery, often working through the contract management of our trusted associates. In addition, you will help identify key building services where regional contracts could add value and support Contract Managers in establishing these.

Building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will be key and will include National Trust staff and volunteers from local sites as well as regional and national specialists, contractors, relevant local authority officers, neighbouring landowners.You’ll be able to clearly communicate the essential elements of your work and influence and persuade others to support your approach.

- An ability to think creatively around the use of external associates and contractors to deliver our strategy
