**About the role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Southampton as a** Student Disability Team Leader** in the Student Disability and Inclusion team. Sitting within the Student Support Directorate, our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, seamless support and advice for disabled students within the framework of the Equality Act 2010. This includes students with long-term physical or mental health conditions, neurodivergent students (such as those with autism and ADHD), and those without a formal diagnosis of disability.
In this role you will:
- ** Lead with confidence**:Manage a team of specialist practitioners by setting clear objectives, managing performance and development, and ensuring KPIs are achieved
- ** Navigate complex casework**:Maintain robust management oversight of students with complex needs, including the convening and chairing of student case conferences
- ** Collaborate across the university**:Work in partnership with various departments and faculties to ensure a seamless and joined up approach to disabled students’ experience
- ** Develop student-centric processes**:Create and maintain clear processes and procedures that put students at the heart of everything we do.
- ** Ensure operational excellence**:Collaborate closely with the management team to ensure that the service operates safely and efficiently, and that staff are supported in their roles.
You'll be based in our open-plan office on Highfield campus, with occasional work from other campuses as needed. We offer the flexibility of occasional home working and require occasional weekend and evening work for university-wide events such as open days, graduation, and transition days for new students. This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
**About you**
You will bring experience in working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary contexts, ensuring that coordination of support is handled effectively. An understanding of working within a Higher Education setting would be beneficial, but your ability to lead teams is paramount.
**About the University of Southampton**
As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days, we will support your long-term future too, with access to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts. We believe equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to making the University of Southampton a welcoming, vibrant, and successful organisation. Having a diverse workforce, inclusive of people of all ages and beliefs, from different racial, educational, and social backgrounds opens up a wealth of possibilities, makes us more creative and accelerates our impact on society. We welcome applicants that value the diversity of our community and are willing to play their part in supporting the mission of inclusivity.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applicants who support our mission of inclusivity.
