**Hours: 5 Hours per week (Friday) with opportunity to cover extra shifts on an ad-hoc basis**

**Salary: £12.44-£13.26 per hour depending on qualifications**

We therefore expect all those who come to join our team (in whatever capacity) to ensure that dignity, safety, and confidentiality of all patients is respected at all times and that all patients receive the highest possible standard of physical, psychological, and spiritual care.

Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity committed to providing supportive palliative care to patients and their families living in Newark and Sherwood. We have 4 in-patient beds for people with palliative care needs, day therapy, as well as a Hospice at Home service providing compassionate support to the community. We also offer Complementary Therapy for patients and carers who would benefit from a therapeutic approach as well as bereavement support for those who have accessed our services.

We are contactable 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, to provide a friendly ear, general information or to signpost patients, relatives and carers to appropriate resources and services.

**Role Purpose**

To provide individual high-quality care for patients attending Beaumond House Hospice Day Therapy Service. Care may include supporting patients with psychosocial and spiritual care in line with any agreed plan and enabling patients’ independence and supporting living well. You must adhere to all policies and procedures applicable in the hospice and to local and national end of life care policies. You will work under the direction of a Wellbeing Lead (Registered Nurse). Sensitive communication is required as the role cares for patients and their loved ones at difficult and emotional times.To provide individual high-quality care for patients attending Beaumond House Hospice Day Therapy Service. **Main Duties**

To work under the supervision of the Wellbeing Lead as directed in the patients’ care plan, providing support to patients living with life limiting conditions.
- Co-ordinate, assist and lead activities and therapies for a group of patients.
- Assist patients with l care needs such as toileting, whilst maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
- To be responsible for undertaking some simple patient assessments.
- Having some involvement with care of medication once trained and competent to do so in line with policy.
- To be responsible for ensuring patient safety and that any care given is in line with training received and is directed via nursing care plans.
- To act in a non-judgemental way and treat every patient as an individual, respecting their choices, wishes, customs, values and beliefs irrespective of your own ideals and culture.
- Establish the preferred method of communication for the patient and their families.
- To communicate effectively and appropriately with patients from diverse backgrounds including different cultures. As well as patients who exhibit challenging behaviour, sensory loss and other difficulties with communication.
- To ensure any queries raised by patients, families and visitors are responded to in a friendly andsensitive way and directed to the appropriate professional if you are unable to address the question or resolve the issue yourself. Whilst always maintaining patient’s confidentiality and privacy
- To be able to communicate with and support patients with conversations which may be of a sensitive nature.
- Can relay to the appropriate profession
