Event Manager

Our client is looking to strengthen its world class team by recruiting an Event Manager, this is a 12 month maternity cover to work within a venue team delivering events across two purpose-built venues (a 20,000sqm exhibition and conference centre and a3,500sqm blank canvas exclusive hire).
This position is an urgent start to join a team of 7, this role directly reports to the Head of Event Management. Typically, the team run up to 40 events a year, covering small board meetings to large events with thousands of attendees. The team cover a12hr day working shifts of either 7:00 - 15:00, 9:00 - 17:00 or 11:00 - 19:00 and there is occasional need for weekend cover, which will accrue TOIL.
**Event Manager Main Responsibilities**:
- Plan, operate and deliver event portfolio, managing workload of your event portfolio
- Coordinate and operate the allocated events, including any pre brief and debrief meetings with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Attend site visits with the sales team and clients when required and complete key event documentation for each event.
- Operate as an effective duty manager of the venue when allocated to do so by Head of Event Management on the weekly rota.
- Proactively establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships with all departments, supply partners and external suppliers.
- Uses the customer point of view to simplify the customer journey and experience, making improvements to the customer experience both pre show and onsite.
- Proactively identify show safety and security risks. Plan and manage the safety and security services to minimise risks as agreed with the Head of Event Management.
- Full understanding of a CDM site and actively manages the CDM site as and when required.
- Ensure all finance processes are adhered to and completed at the correct times.
**The Ideal Event Manager Will**:
- A fluent and excellent communicator at all levels with strong organisational and diplomatic skills
- Confident and enthusiastic with excellent attention to detail
- Management experience within a Conference and Banqueting, Hospitality or Event environment.
- Assertive with ability to portray authority and composure, leading by example
- Working knowledge of coordinating contractors
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and working to set budgets whilst prioritising and setting workloads for self and others
- 'Hands on’ approach with a flexible attitude to working hours
- Able to understand technical design plans
- Full driving licence required with own transport (for driving between venues)
- Personal License holder
- IOSH Managing Safely (preferable)
- Event / exhibition operational background (preferable)
- Working knowledge of the following: MS Office, Ungerboeck diary system (preferable) and CAD (preferable)
