We’re looking for a knowledgeable, creative and networked communicator to help our teams care for their collections and places.

You’ll support our property teams with all aspects of curatorship, playing a key part in the delivery of our ambitions for curation and experiences. You’ll help our teams to care for and understand special places using contemporary research, inclusive engagement and world-class curatorial skills.

What it's like to work here:You’ll join a team of Cultural Heritage Curators who work closely with property-based teams to provide them with all aspects of curatorial support. As part of an internal consultancy, you’ll help ensure we provide the best possible service.

You’ll also work with a wider network of expertise and national specialist curators who support national strategic ambitions and policy making across the organisation.

As well as helping to deliver fantastic experiences for a wide range of audiences, you’ll grow support across a broad spectrum of active and potential supporters.

We support hybrid working. You’ll work with properties across Kent and Sussex, contractually based out of our office hub at Scotney Castle. There’s some flexibility to work from home by agreement with your line manager.

What you'll be doing:Your portfolio will depend upon your skills and expertise and our Kent and Sussex portfolios include a range of unique properties and places.

You’ll share inclusive and outward looking perspectives, develop innovate interpretation, support the best quality of access and facilitate more diverse experiences. You’ll understand and engage people with our unique history.

Your role will be varied and may include supporting the delivery of national programmes, identifying and developing new experiences, supporting delivery of exciting development projects and acting as a trusted advisor on everything linked to creating relevant and inspiring experiences at our places. You’ll develop relationships with operational colleagues, partners and stakeholders within and outside the region.

Who we're looking forYou’ll have:

- A postgraduate degree (or comparable) and significant knowledge across two or more of the following areas: history, art history, architectural history, landscape, archaeology, gardens/parks, nature connection, visitor/audience engagement, professional programming practice
- Substantial experience of developing engaging and accessible interpretation and visitor engagement
- Experience of commissioning, undertaking and disseminating research, including publications, where relevant
- Experience of brokering, commissioning or procuring services
- A commitment to inclusive and diverse histories, programming and engagement
- Knowledge of current best practice in relation to the care and management of buildings, landscapes, and collections care - including Museum Accreditation, Collections Management and Conservation standards
- Strong networks with a deep knowledge and understanding of the latest innovations in the cultural and natural environment and/or visitor attraction sector
- Strong consulting, networking and influencing skills
