We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our team in our new residential home, working with young people aged 8 to 18 who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, and challenging backgrounds. In this role, you will provide support to help these young people build confidence, develop resilience, and work towards becoming the best versions of themselves.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Emotional & Practical Support**: Offer care and emotional support to young people, fostering a safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued and understood.
- **Building Confidence & Self-Esteem**: Help young people rebuild trust, boost their self-confidence, and develop positive coping mechanisms.
- **Encouraging Engagement in Education & Hobbies**: Support young people with their education by assisting with homework, promoting school attendance, and encouraging participation in extracurricular activities and hobbies.
- **Developing Life Skills**: Teach and guide young people in essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, and other household tasks to enhance their independence.
- **Activity Planning & Participation**: Organize and accompany young people on recreational outings, ensuring they are engaged in stimulating and enjoyable activities that contribute to their personal growth.
- **Daily Support**: Assist with daily routines, including school drop-offs/pick-ups, mealtimes, and general household tasks (excluding personal care).
- **Individual Care Plans**: Work closely with other professionals to follow individualized care plans and ensure that each young person’s specific emotional and developmental needs are met.

**Person Specification**:

- Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years old to apply.
- **Compassion & Empathy**: A deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people who have been through trauma and the ability to respond with patience, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach.
- **Strong Communication Skills**: The ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people and professionals.
- **Resilience**: Ability to handle challenging behaviour calmly and constructively, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- **Teamwork**: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide consistent care and support for the young people.
- **Flexibility**: Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Experience working with children or young people in a supportive role, especially those who have experienced trauma or challenging backgrounds.
- DBS Check
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection policies.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or willingness to work towards it.
- A valid driving license is preferred, as the role may involve transporting young people to school and activities.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.50-£14.00 per hour

Additional pay:
