Support Worker (Day & Night Shifts)

Location: Canvey Island & Shoeburyness

Hours: 12-hour shifts (8am–8pm / 8pm–8am)

Childrens Residential home; a 3-bed children's home supporting young people aged 7–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). We provide emergency, short-term and long-term placements, offering a safe, nurturing environment where young people can grow, learn and reach their potential.

Role Overview

As a Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional and social support to young people, acting as a positive role model and helping them overcome challenges. You'll work as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality care in line with care plans, safeguarding standards and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with young people
  • Provide day-to-day care, including cooking, cleaning and home routines
  • Support young people's education, activities and family contact
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Act as a key worker and advocate for individual young people
  • Help manage behaviour and promote a safe, respectful home environment
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, health, education and families
  • Attend training, supervision and team meetings
  • Drive company vehicles (where applicable)

About You

Essential:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Commitment to creating a safe, supportive and enriching environment

Desirable:

  • Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Experience as a Senior Support Worker
  • Ability to manage and organise team tasks

Pay: £27,000.00-£48,000.00 per year

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
