**Management Accountant**
This is an important finance focused role for MAC and is key to delivering excellent financial management and control.
**Management Accountant Responsibilities**:
**Financial Duties**:
- To prepare accurate and timely management accounts for presentation for MAC and MAC Trading Ltd. This includes fully understanding all variances between actual budget and forecast with budget holders and reporting these to the Finance Director.
- With the Finance Director, ensuring all relevant financial controls and procedures are followed in the recording of data relevant to the finance functions of MAC and MAC Trading Ltd.
- Ensuring control accounts are appropriately managed by undertaking month end journals and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for MAC and MAC Trading Ltd.
- Ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded on daily banking spreadsheet for MAC Trading Ltd. Highlighting and monitoring any discrepancies.
- Ensuring income and expenditure limits are in line with financial procedures.
- Update and circulate weekly P&L reports for MAC Trading Ltd.
- Prepare and be responsible for cashflow forecast and submission for MAC Charity.
- Controlling petty cash records for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT return for group.
- Assisting the Finance Director in reviewing and preparation of annual budget.
- Overseeing all cash-accounting, appropriately dealing with discrepancies as necessary.
- Ensuring that sound recordkeeping is followed for all aspect of financial activities.
- Contributing to year-end external auditing purposes.
- Work closely with Heads of Departments.
- Assisting the Finance Director in maintaining a strong financial system and control.
**Financial Procedures & Controls**:
- To assist with implementation of financial controls and procedures and suggest improvements.
- To ensure all nominal ledger control accounts are properly reconciled and report any significant variances that are not resolved.
- To ensure all bank accounts are reconciled and report any outstanding significant variances.
- To assist in the implementation of any internal auditing requirements within the Finance Department and more widely across the organisation.
- To assist Heads of Departments in dealing with customers and suppliers.
- To assist Finance Director in providing advice and information to Heads of Departments.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and respond to queries from Heads of Departments.
**Administration**:
- To manage and resolve queries relating to the financial function, or redirect as necessary.
- To keep appropriate documentation in line with document retention policy and good practice standards.
- To contribute towards a paperless office.
- To contribute towards centralised record keeping.
**General**:
- Undertake such training as may from time to time be appropriate to the post.
- Act as a full team member within the department and contribute to the life of the organisation as a whole.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the work of departmental colleagues to ensure flexibility and maximum effectiveness.
- Undertake any other duties which may be required from this post.
- Maintain awareness of current issues and trends in Professional Development.
- Participate in training and development activities as required and to assist with the training and development of colleagues as appropriate.

**Management Accountant Requirements**:
**Essential**:
- At least 3 years’ experience of producing management accounts in a commercial, public sector and/or charitable organisation.
- Experience of cash flow forecast and management.
- Experience of reconciling balance sheet and control accounts.
- Experience of partial VAT return.
- Experience with handling cash.
- Experience of working with tight deadlines.
- Good knowledge of current accounting standards.
- Understanding of broad meaning of ‘internal control’ and able to contribute to its development.
- Good Interpersonal skills.
- Good Communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office in a professional environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
**Desirable**:
- Interest in the arts.
- Experience of QuickBooks.
- Evidence of professional personal development.
- Experience of Exchequer accountancy software.
**Location**: Birmingham B12 9QH
**Contract Type**: Permanent
**Hours**: Part Time, 30 per week. Weekend and/or evening work may be required on occasion.
**Salary**: £29,216 per annum, pro rata
