London, United Kingdom Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our team in Maternity at St Thomas’ Hospital. We are recruiting to a number of key senior matron roles in the midwifery team. Following a restructure of the wider senior midwifery team we have added a number of new roles, including a Chief Midwife at Executive level, a Deputy Chief Midwife responsible for operational leadership and supporting the delivery of strategy, and two Lead Midwife roles responsible for oversight of the community, antenatal and acute maternity clinical areas. This new structure ensures we provide enhanced leadership and support for the women, families and staff we care for.

Your role will be key in delivering high quality, safe care, ensuring an excellent experience for our women and families, and also for our staff. As an experienced midwife you will have good knowledge of both midwife-led and complex maternity care pathways. Focusing on working with your teams to enable a culture of kindness and compassion, and developing systems and processes that deliver efficient and effective care will be essential. You will also be an experienced manager, used to achieving key staffing requirements HR processes, rotas and recruitment.

As the matron you will be leading a team of midwives and support workers; working closely alongside other maternity teams across the service to ensure that midwifery-led pathways for women are sustained. You will be responsible for overseeing the Midwifery-Led Birth Centre, supporting a team of senior midwives, core midwives and support staff. You will provide a high degree of clinical care and support, directly with the women and families using our services. You will also play an exciting role in expanding our Continuity of Carer pathways, developing innovative and creative models of care that meet both the needs of our women and families, and our teams. You will be closely supported by the Lead Midwife and the Deputy Chief Midwife in achieving this ambition, and will participate in the midwifery manager on call rota.

We have worked carefully to restructure and align our senior midwifery team at the Trust, to ensure we meet the demands of current maternity challenges in the NHS. You will join us at an exciting time to continue to help shape and develop the excellent service we provide, working with a supportive and engaged team of midwives, doctors and senior leaders.

Please see the attached Job Description for details of duties and responsibilities for this opportunity.
