**Job overview**:
This is a fixed term contract post for a senior clinical fellow in general and specialist medicine on the royal Oldham site we currently have 6 general and specialist wards.
You will be an integral part of the Medical Team at the Royal Oldham Hospital working alongside an experienced team of Consultants and junior medical staff, which includes registrar supervision on all medical wards.
The Clinical Fellow will be part of a consultant led multidisciplinary team with responsibility for the provision of services across General and Specialist Medicine
The posts will be within one speciality or rotating across specialities such as Respiratory, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cardiology or Care of the elderly.
The post will be predominantly inpatient based however there will be some opportunity for out-patient clinic work if interested. You will be expected to act as a role model and provide supervision and support to the junior doctors. You will be given opportunity to gain competencies in procedures as per your agreed objectives.
These posts include a 1 in 11 on-call commitment once you have been through a period of induction.
**Main duties of the job**:
The Trust is looking for Several enthusiastic doctors to support the Directorate of General and Specialist Medicine. Your normal place of work will be the general medical wards at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
This is a Trust (ST3 level or above equivalent) position appointed for service commitments; it is not recognised for training by the Post Graduate Dean.
- The nature of the work will include assessment, and provision of a range of clinical treatments and care covering the spectrum of general and specialist medicine including sub specialities.
- Contribute to outpatient clinics with the multidisciplinary team across the specialities
- Undertake clinical administrative activity required for patient care and continuity.
- Undertake service evaluation, audit, and clinical governance activity within the department
- Along with other Directorate colleagues the appointee will be expected to co-ordinate with the constituents of the multi-disciplinary team.
- The post holder will be expected to maintain their continuing professional development, registration with the General Medical Council, membership of professional bodies, participate in annual appraisal and job planning with the clinical director and line manager.

- Full registeration with GMC and license to practice
- Primary Medical Qualification
- Evidence of achievements of ST1 and ST2 competencies or equivalent within medicine
- Experience of working within the NHS in a variety of posts
**Desirable criteria**:
- Completion of post grad qualification
- Completion of leadership course
**Experience and clinical skills**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Evidence of completion of formal 'hands on' training in Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Relevant experience in other specialties that would complement a career in General Medicine.
- Good organisational skills and time management
- Use of evidence based practice.
- Participation in audit and understanding of clinical governance.
- Information technology skills.

- Evidence of relevant peer reviewed papers
- Teaching achievement (including attendance at teaching courses, etc)
