**Job title: Health and Safety Officer**
**Salary: £19.67 per hour; £35,796 pro rata**
**Hours of work: 24 hours a week. Guild Care offers flexible working arrangements
- you can choose the days and hours you will work, however working on Fridays will be required.**
**Location: Central Worthing, however visits to our services will also be required**

Guild Care, a local charity which is celebrating 90th Birthday this year is looking for a Health and Safety Officer.
Our services support older people, those living with dementia, and children and adults with learning disabilities. As a charity we aim to reduce social isolation and social stigma, and we believe that nobody should feel isolated.
You will be working as part of a small, friendly team, so your input will really make a difference

In this role you will support the Senior Health and Safety Officer in ensuring that Guild Care complies with current health and safety legislation

**Job Requirements**
**Essential**
- NEBOSH general certificate in occupational health and safety or equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience in Health & Safety
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Up to date knowledge of H&S legislation
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages
- The post holder must be able to provide a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Check
**Desirable**
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as NEBOSH certificate in fire safety and risk management
- Experience in either care, hospitality or retail
- Car owner and driver to facilitate site visits
**Job Purpose**
To support the Senior Health and Safety Officer in ensuring that Guild Care complies with current health and safety legislation.
To work with the Director of Safety & Compliance and the Senor Health and Safety Officer on delivery of Guild Care’s Health and Safety and Environmental strategies.
To promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
**Main Duties**
- To be responsible for central monitoring of ‘accidents’ and ‘incidents’ occurring across the organisation and reporting outcomes to the Director of Safety and Compliance as appropriate. To advise managers on how to respond to accidents and assist them with completing a follow-up if required
- To proactively identify trends in accident and incidents, promoting a culture of ‘lessons learnt’
- To be responsible for the auditing of health and safety across the organisation to ensure compliance
- ü To provide information and advice on all health and safety related matters to service managers
- To work with the Senior Health and Safety Officer on designing and delivering health and safety training when required
- To identify key hazards and issues and to recommend control measures to ensure health and safety risks are reduced to the lowest practicable level
- To be responsible for carrying out risk assessments, including fire risk assessments and ensuring appropriate control measures to reduce the risk are identified and implemented
- To be responsible for managing COSHH requirements for all services
- To develop and provide guidance for the role of Health and Safety Representatives across the organisation, establishing the principles of good practice, open-ness and accountability around all health and safety issues
- To ensure that your own knowledge and practice remains up to date and relevant.

Licence/Certification:
