**Orchard Surgery Medical Secretary**

We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our Administrations Department working for our busy town centre GP Surgery in Horsham, West Sussex with approximately 9000 patients.

Working as part of a team the post-holder will assist the clinical team with the processing of patient referrals so as they can access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Managing the expectations of patients, their carers or guardians and providing a high standard of patient focused service, are priorities.

**Job description**
- To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs, Managers and Health Care professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters and patient referrals in an accurate and efficient manner.
- To liaise with the hospitals and other agencies on behalf of patients and GPs in regards to appointments and admissions.
- To maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- Where possible to provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
- Scanning and coding of own referral paperwork.
- Ensure sufficient stationary supplies are held and place orders when needed

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24 per week

**Salary**: £12,592.32-£13,104.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Horsham RH12 1PJ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Medical Receptionist: 1 year (preferred)
