Contract Type and Hours: Apprentice posts are fixed term for the expected duration of the apprenticeship, which in this case is 24 months

All apprentices will need to spend 20% of their contracted hours on ‘off the job learning’ activities.

The contracted weekly hours for this apprenticeship are 37 hours which equates to 7 hours of off the job learning per week

Grade: Apprentice Grade C1

**Main Purpose of the Role**

This role is a 24-month apprenticeship under which the apprentice will engage in on and off the job learning and development activities that will lead to a _Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship_ or _Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship_, depending on qualification or experience on appointment.

Our apprenticeship scheme is tailored to support, develop, and grow our apprentices to progress in their chosen careers. As part of the scheme apprentices will be provided with a mentor, spend time on placement and become part of our apprentice network. We recognise apprenticeships are developmental roles whereby the individual gains more and more skills as they progress, we’ve reflected this in the apprentice salary which will increase annually and align with the salary grade for the role the individual is working towards. _Listen to our Apprenticeship Employment Lead_ talk about what makes our scheme stand out.

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, the role holder will be eligible to progress to the _Level 6 Chartered Manager (Degree)_ for a further three years, as a permanent member of staff.

The role provides high quality administrative support for the academic courses of study, at all levels and modes of study. As part of the Faculty Academic Administration team, the role holder will work closely with other support functions including Faculty Quality, Faculty Operations and other central services to support academic colleagues in delivering an outstanding student experience from admission to graduation.

Aligned to the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy, the Faculty Academic Administration team will play an integral role in supporting schools in creating an environment for student success, through the timely delivery of administrative processes, including: course-based transition, orientation and induction; updating information records and data files; course set-up and maintenance; monitoring and reporting of attendance; assessment administration including mark entry and extenuating circumstances; and management of Boards of Examiner processes, in a professional manner. As such, the team is required to focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery and continuously identifying areas that impact academic administration and make appropriate recommendations for improvements.

The role holder will deliver a timely and accurate administration service in line with University regulations and external stakeholder requirements, as necessary. They will work proactively, within their team, led by the Team Leader (Academic Administration) and under the direction of the Faculty Manager (Academic Administration) to ensure the delivery of administrative support for the academic courses of study, at all levels and modes of study.

**Main Duties**

An apprenticeship is a developmental role. You will be working towards the following duties and should be to be competent in carrying them out by the end of the apprenticeship. You will be fully supported, in line with the University’s approach to apprenticeships, and on completion, you will have developed knowledge, understanding and skills, in order to competently carry out the following:

- Attend relevant training and complete assignments as part of the apprenticeship programme along with off the job training elements. It’s essential the requirements of the apprenticeship are met to ensure continued employment.
- To provide support for key academic administration tasks, facilitating the student journey within the Faculty including but not limited to:

- Timetabling and Rooming
- Assessment processes
- Exceptional Circumstances
- Engagement with all relevant University systems and processes
- Attendance and engagement monitoring
- Other activities commensurate to the role
- To work collaboratively with academic staff to provide administrative support for course meetings e.g preparing agendas, writing minutes and maintaining a record of actions and following-up as required.
- To act as the main administrative contact for students within their portfolio of courses and provide a high level of service to ensure an outstanding student experience, via CRM referrals from iZone
