North Shields, United Kingdom Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Applications are invited for a qualified and experienced Child Psychotherapist to join a highly established multi-disciplinary CAMHS team covering the North Tyneside area. The team caters for children and young people aged 0-18 and their families, who are affected by a variety of mental health difficulties. We are looking to expand the therapeutic offer within CAMHS to include psychoanalytical psychotherapy in order to continue to provide flexible, creative, person-centred, evidence-based support for children and young people with moderate to severe emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated team player to support with the delivery of psychoanalytically informed assessment, formulation and intervention across CAMHS.

The post holder will be a senior clinician and as such will be expected to support more complex and high risks case assessments and intervention and be able to provide guidance and support to others. It is also expected that the postholder would support a placement for a trainee child psychotherapist.

The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust.

Essential Criteria
- Registered qualification as a Child Psychotherapist & member of the ACP.
- Considerable experience working with children and families in this model
- Experience working in CAMHS in the NHS

We firmly believe in equality of opportunity and welcome applicants from all sectors of the community wishing to work in a smoke free environment.

To provide a qualified highly specialist Child Psychotherapy service to clients of CAMHS, across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

Main responsibilities will be to provide psychoanalytically informed assessment, formulation and treatment considerations for young people and their families referred to CAMHS and to develop the service wide offer within CAMHS. There will also be opportunities to develop individual interests with regards to all other service contributions across CAMHS and an expectation of working across teams to offer psychotherapeutic expertise.

CPD is supported and further development of skills and knowledge in a chosen specialist field would be positively encouraged.
