**About the young person and the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role**
- Located in Halton (WA7)
- 25 hours per week
- Key Stage 2 age
- Requires a caring teaching assistant who can support the young person with their complex ASC (Autism) and SEMH needs while in their specialist until
This role will involve working with the young person at their specialist provision, providing child-centred support focussed on engaging them and nurturing their wellbeing. It will involve travelling to the placement, supporting them, and writing a brief report to record your hours.

- Essential_
- Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this for you)
- HLTA status
- Experience, knowledge, and understanding of safeguarding processes
- A person-centred approach in your work
- A passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to engagement
- You must work in a way that promotes the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Desirable_
- Experience supporting ASC, SEMH, and SEND in school
- You may have supported vulnerable family members or worked in care settings

At ASEND, we support SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).
We want to build the best team we can to support the UK’s vulnerable young people:

Individuals with highly relevant experience from teaching backgrounds often have worked in the following roles:
- SENCo (Special Education Needs Coordinator)
- SLD / MLD / SEN Teacher
- Autism / ADHD Support Teacher
- Intervention Specialist
- Ex-Teacher
Other highly relevant roles from therapeutic and learning support backgrounds include:
- Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
