We require Residential Care Officers (Level 1 and 2) to join our caring, supportive and creative team at Haven Cottage supporting young people aged 5-18 with varying complex disabilities.

**What you will do**

In this incredibly rewarding job as Residential Care Officer you'll be passionate about care and deeply committed to helping our children grow and develop as individuals in a safe and secure environment. You will have the ability to professionally nurture young people and support their transition into adulthood.

In your role as a residential care officer, you will support young people with day to day tasks, including personal care, developing independence skills, supporting play and socialising with peers and developing communication skills. You will also plan and support outings in the local community.

You will be responsible for medication tasks following full training and observations.

You will also work closely with families as well as other agencies such as education, Social work teams and health professionals to create and action holistic plans that meet the needs of our young people.

Our Level 2's take on additional responsibilities such as regular shift leading, developing projects and mentoring and inspiring new staff.

These positions are offered on a contract of 30 hours a week where you will work a combination of earlies, lates and nights. Haven Cottage is open all year round so weekend and bank holiday work will be included in your rota, we operate an alternate working weekend pattern and an alternate Christmas and New year rota. There are occasions where you may be required to sleep in, if so additional allowance is paid.

**About the home**

Haven Cottage is in Boston, and provides short break care for young people with disabilities. We are a purpose built home with a large secure outside play area.

We provide short breaks for up to 5 young people at a time.

**About you**

We are looking for someone who:

- Is caring and playful, our children have lots of energy and like to explore and play
- Can adapt their approach and communication style quickly in response to the young people’s needs
- Is passionate about the care of children and young people, you will be able to create an environment where children feel safe, nurtured, loved and at home
- Is curious about what a child might need and enthusiastic about helping to meet those needs
- Able to set boundaries in a firm but hugely kind way and learn to use different approaches
- Willing to undertake a QCF qualification in working with children.
- Able to use a computer at a basic level and will have knowledge and/or experience of the caring profession.
