- Job descriptionNorthamptonshire Police Professional Standards Department (PSD) is recruiting two Staff Case Investigators to join our growing team. As a Case Investigator you will be involved in several key areas of work. Primarily you will investigate complaints made against members of Northamptonshire Police in accordance with the Police Complaints and Misconduct regulations. You will also investigate allegations of misconduct, in accordance with the Police Conduct Regulations, and you will engage with the Independent Office for Police Complaints (IOPC) referring matters such as Death or Serious Injury (DSI) incidents that meet referral criteria. The role will also require you to support Detective’s in the investigation of Police Perpetrated Crime.

You will be able to demonstrate effective communication to achieve a satisfactory outcome with both internal and external stakeholders and at all levels. The ability to communicate ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential together with the ability to challenge in an appropriate manner. Good analytical skills are required with effective decision making and assessment of information. The ability to work proactively on your own initiative with mínimal supervision is required and also the ability to work flexibly as part of a team of investigators in order to balance the workload and maintain resilience. You will have experience of using databases, conducting audits and preparing electronic files. The ability to develop yourself and understand complex information or legislation is required whilst having personal resilience and acting with integrity.

**Recruitment and Selection Policy**

Internal applicants who are at risk of redundancy or in need of redeployment and pass the selection process, will be offered the role over the remaining internal and external applicants.

Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers. Although Police internal vacancies are open to OPFCC staff and vice versa, if you are successful, the change of employer will require a longer onboarding process and you will receive a new contract and payroll number. Service with either employer can be carried over as continuous service.

**Police Barred and Advisory lists**

Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the Police and OPFCC for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in
