My high-profile energy renewable client is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the business with a particular focus on growth, through successful Project Delivery.
The role:
The prime responsibility for a Project Manager that sit within the Generation Portfolio Office (GPO) is to ensure that together, with the Team Manager, that cross functional projects and programmes are effectively delivered in line with the agreed frameworkand that dependencies across the portfolio are effectively managed.
Key responsibilities:

- Support Sponsors, Business Leads and SMEs from across the Generation business in the preparation, approval, refining and updating of a Project Definition Document or Business Case that justifies the initiation and/or continuation of projects in terms of benefitsand risks.
- In some instances, alongside the GPO Team Manager, interpreting strategy to identify the need for a cross-functional Project and the formulation of recommended delivery approaches
- Prepare, documenting, and owning the fundamental components of project management (scope, schedule, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements).
- Forecast and secure the provision of resources needed for projects from internal and/or external providers.
- Establish project structures / organisations and managing suitable project and governance (Steering Committee's / Project Boards)
- Develop work breakdown structures and maintaining project schedules, with a clear view of dependencies, key milestones, and critical path activity.
- Manage the day-to-day activities and progress of the project and key project meetings
- Provide leadership to project teams by motivating the members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and drive to meet project deliverables, milestones & outcomes
- Develop and agree project level budgets for and controlling forecast and actual costs against them.
- Identify and monitor project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect projects.
- Develop and manage effective stakeholder communication plans and documentation.
- Implement where necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects whilst ensuring stakeholder and sponsor sign off
- Transition projects into business as usual & complete full project closure processes.
- Participate in establishing new processes, practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the business and Group.
- Complete project reviews and feedback to the team on PMO capabilities and lessons learned to support ongoing continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

- Professional qualification in Project / Programme Management e.g., APM PMQ, MSP.
- Professional qualification in change management e.g., Prosci, ADKAR, CMI, ACMP. (desirable)
- A proven ability to successfully deliver multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, on-time, on-schedule and within budget.
- Relevant industry experience would be beneficial (power / utilities / construction)
- Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
- The ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork and innovative thinking.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships by engaging business stakeholders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
- Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Experience leading, motivating and managing various project teams, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.
- Experience presenting to stakeholders; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff.
- Technically competent with various project management methodologies.
- Highly competent user of MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of commercial, regulatory or technical aspects of an operational business (highly desirable)
- Ability to work on own initiative but knows when to seek support.
- An understanding of Regulatory Projects is desirable.
- Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the Project team.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Experience presenting to stakeholders; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff.
- Highly competent user of MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
