Cherry Professional?are excited to be partnering with an **engineering** business based on the border of **Nottingham** and **Derby**, who are looking for a **Finance Manager**to join themon a permanent basis. You will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information and **financial controls**for your assigned business unit. This role reports directly into BU General Manager with a dotted line into the group CFO when it comes to accounts and **financial reporting**. You will also be responsible for managing a small team of 3.
- What you’ll do _
- Prepare and supervise all **month end** tasks such as accruals, prepayments and closing of ledgers.
- Full control of the **balance sheet** and any **analysis** that might be necessary.
- Be actively involved with the **annual budget** preparation process.
- Analyse and explain overhead spend and variances to budget.
- Provide analysis to forecast the performance of the business against budget to aid decision making.
- Assist the General Manager in obtaining market intelligence to facilitate strategy and **budget** formulation.
- Support Project Managers in understanding their projects and potential limitations.
- Make sure the setting up and payment of suppliers are performed in accordance with our control procedures and agreed payment terms.
- Support the General Manager to control overhead spend to be kept within budget.
- Manage the **statutory year end audit** by providing the necessary information.
- Prepare quarterly **VAT returns**.
- Prepare the **Corporation Tax** information to Tax Advisors for review and submission.
- Supervise the **SAGE** Payroll and payroll processing.
- What you’ll need_
- **CIMA, ACCA**or**ACA** OR **QBE** with strong **engineering**/**manufacturing** experience.
- Knowledge of group reporting is an advantage.
- Ability to translate **financial analysis** in to clear strategic objectives.
- Able to build and sustain relationships based on trust at all levels.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of basic accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Timesheets.
- Experience of managing people.
- A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft **Excel**, PowerPoint and Word.
- Knowledge of using **SAP** would be beneficial.
