Alexander Cleghorn is based in Tiptree, Essex and was established in 1958. We offer a dedicated DIY and Shelving service supplying a range of Melamine and Veneered panels. Furniture components are manufactured on our state of the art machinery which occupiesseveral well-constructed factories on our sixteen acre site.

We are currently looking to recruit a Supply Chain Manager to join our team.

The Role

The post holder will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Stock and Inventory Department within the business. The role will include purchasing of materials, goods in processing, the management of the stock holding plus associated team(s).

You will be expected to:

- Ensure effective and efficient processes are in place by driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and set effective minimum stock levels, in line with production needs.
- Ensure efficient stock turnover in line with budgeted targets (Inventory turnover ratio).
- Ensure raw materials are available to meet production demand JIT.
- Ensure stock rotation is maintained for production minimising the presence of slow moving or obsolete materials.
- Oversee the effective management of raw material flow to and from production.
- Ensure that the warehouse and stores space is used optimally
- Develop and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships, ensuring any delays to deliveries are communicated through the supply chain.
- Lead, motivate, engage, and develop a small and effective team, identifying training needs and opportunities to improve current ways of working.
- Ensure compliance and best practice in all areas of responsibilities. Including maintaining up to date knowledge and competence of people at the required level.
- Implement monitoring and measurement tools to assess department performance against business requirements
- Responsible for stock reconciliations and stock take process.
- Support the return’s function ensuring all returns are processed and stock control maintained.
- Take internal lead for FSC & PEFC certification and act as the main point of contact for external audits.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 17:00 pm, and flexibility with working hours is essential as overtime will be required from time to time.

To be considered for our Supply Chain Manager role, you will have the following skills and experience:

- Ideally qualified within Business Management or similar qualification, but consideration will be given to relevant experience.
- Significant experience of managing and developing a stock department in the manufacturing sector.
- Solid knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques.
- Development and implementation of business process to lead continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and experience of root cause analysis and associated investigation techniques
- Designed and implemented processes and procedures.
- Experience of developing a department for additional business needs.
- Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- An analytical mind with strong attention to detail
