**Press Machine Operative**

Alexander Cleghorn is based in Tiptree, Essex and was established in 1958. We offer a dedicated DIY and Shelving service supplying a range of Melamine and Veneered panels. Furniture components are manufactured on our state of the art machinery which occupiesseveral well-constructed factories on our sixteen acre site.

We are currently looking to recruit a Press Machine Operative to join our Assembly Department.

**The Role**

As our Press Machine Operative, you will be responsible for the operation of a manual press line with a PVA glue spreader and a 10' x 5' hot or cold press. The main responsibility is pressing HPL onto Chipboard/MDF or Plywood cores, with occasional handlay ups using PVA or sprayed contact adhesive.

**You will be expected to**:

- Turn the Press Machine on as it takes an hour to warm for hot pressing process.
- Fill glue holders.
- All laminate and boards must be cleaned by using an air hose to ensure optimum quality.
- Ensure correct laminate and chipboard is available for jobs allocated for the working day.
- Liaise with Saw Operative to cut boards to required size.
- Process all jobs required for the day.
- Ensure that adequate quantities of glue, adhesive spray and balance board is always available.
- Ensure that area, machine and all other equipment are cleaned thoroughly after each day.
- Press must be kept free of any debris throughout the day and cleaned again at the end of the shift.
- Ensure that work area is kept clean and tidy.
- Work within health and safety at work act of 1974 at all times and in all working areas.
- Ad-hoc tasks may be requested from time to time that is not listed above, but will be required.
- Additional hours may be required during busy periods.
- Perform any reasonable management instruction within time frame requested.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 17:00 pm, and flexibility with working hours is essential as overtime will be required from time to time.

To be considered for our Press Machine Operative role, you will have the following skills and experience:
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum GCSE English and Mathematics

**EXPERIENCE**
- Previous experience working on a hot or cold Press is desirable, but not essential.
- Previous experience within the Woodworking and manufactory industry is desirable but not essential.

**SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE**
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Organised and clean methods of working are essential in this role as it will impact the final product quality.
- Forklift Truck Licence and experience are desirable, but not essential.
