**Summary (overview of role)**:
The Senior Advisor is responsible for leading the engagement with registered providers in relation to our consumer standards. The Senior Advisor manages and supports Consumer Regulation Advisors to provide support across a varied caseload and range of providers, ensuring that a risk-based, proportionate approach is taken to our regulation.

The role also involves supporting the ongoing development of regulatory colleagues, including work to develop the regulator’s response to the Social Housing White Paper. Key to the role will be work to develop and test our approach to proactive regulation, and in due course, completing planned assessments and reactive reviews of registered providers’ compliance with the standards.

**Job Description (the successful person will be responsible for)**:
You will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective regulation of providers who are, or could be, non-compliant with our consumer standards. You will contribute to the management of the consumer regulation, enquiries and referrals functions at the regulator, overseeing resource allocation and case management. You will contribute to the development of our proactive approach to consumer regulation, working to develop, test and implement our agreed approach.

You have a sound understanding of the regulator’s role and knowledge of the housing sector (or comparable experience). You have strong analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to reach sound judgements, including in the quality control of others’ work. You have first class communication skills, effective for a range of audiences. You have experience of managing credible relationships with providers at senior levels, experience of delivering results in an assurance-based environment, and the ability to handle contentious issues in a robust and tactful manner. You have the ability to work across team boundaries in a joined up way, and have strong management and leadership skills to drive teams to deliver.

**Location**

Our offices have now re-opened and we are moving towards a hybrid model of working with a mix of office / home working.

RSH’s core offices are in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Our posts can be successfully carried out from any RSH office unless otherwise specified in the job information. We offer flexible working arrangements and staff can work from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, and some roles also involve onsite visits to social housing providers.

In line with Government requirements to reduce the number of Civil Service and NDPB roles based in London, we only advertise roles in London which need to be there for business-critical reasons.

**Interviews**

Interview dates are **W/C 21 November **and will be held via Microsoft Teams in line with our current hybrid working model.

**Salary**

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
