**Home-school Tutor Job Description £** **21,764.40 per anum**
At Norton College Worcester we have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding staff team. We are an Independent Special School supporting young people from the ages of 11 - 19 with social, emotional, mental health difficulties. Many of our young people have experienced difficulties in other educational settings which has led to them feeling disillusioned as learners. At Norton College we provide them with a new start, an alternative approach to education, and a focus on their individual outcomes, through our philosophy of kindness, warmth and compassion.
Through reducing barriers, providing 1:1 teaching, creating bespoke learning pathways and targeted pastoral support we raise students’ engagement and drastically improve their educational journey, allowing them to achieve their potential and desired outcomes.
We are looking to employ people with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at risk and vulnerable learners.

As a Home-School Tutor you will deliver English and Maths sessions to individuals in a 1-1 bases either here at the college or at the students home. A company car will be provided to facilite this commute between homes and the college.
**Accountable to**: Head of School
**Main duties**
The specific nature and balance of these duties will vary according to the needs of the College and may be shared.
- To support the work of the home tuition team and/or other duties as appropriate.
- To work with students on a 1:1 basis at a pace and style that best suits their learning
- To be sufficiently confident to work with students off site, either at home or in the local community
- To encourage and support students who may be reluctant to engage with education
- To deliver lessons to students in their home, college, or alternative locations, dependent on the emotional needs of the students
- To provide transport, using a company provided vehicle to transport students as required, to and from college.
- Using a company provided vehicle to facilitate the education of students at home.
- To transport, students using a company vehicle, to activities during the college day.
- To support students through the day as they access their learning as directed.
- Facilitate positive relationships with parents and carers
- Keep appropriate records as required
- To be part of a multi-professional team
**Health and Safety**
- To report any Health and Safety issues across the college to the appropriate Health and Safety Officer.
**The internal organisation, management and control of the College**:
To contribute to:
- Maintaining and developing the ethos, values and overall purposes of the College.
- To contribute to planning process, translating College aims and policies into actions.
**Staff Training**
- To take part in all mandatory training provided by the college especially around Safeguarding, Team Teach and Health and Safety etc.
- To facilitate / generate reports as required by the Head of school
**To support the pastoral work of the College including Behaviour Management**:
- Work closely with colleagues and lead the promotion among pupils of good standards of conduct/discipline, proper regard for authority and the encouragement of good behaviour.
**Safeguarding**
- To be mindful at all times of your responsibilities regarding Safeguarding and to report any concerns on the same working day to the Lead Safeguarding Officer - Luke Goold or one of the safeguarding team.
- If you make a Safeguarding referral to one of the above or in fact another manager, before you leave work your final duty is to ask that colleague what their response to the referral was. What action has been taken?
**Annual Reviews / reports**
- To provide any supporting information for Annual Reviews / meetings as required.
- To provide any information in the form of a written report as required to support colleagues attending various meetings.
**Relationships**
- To work to achieve positive staff / student relationships across the college community.
- To help in maintaining and developing effective communications and links with parents and to provide positive responses as appropriate, to concerns and problems regarding their children’s educations and wellbeing.
**Additional Duties**
- As a Home-school Tutor you may be asked to take on additional duties as requested by the Head of school.
