I'm currently working alongside a leading company in Birmingham in their recruitment of a part time payroll clerk (25-hour week) on a temporary basis with a potential to go permanent. You will be reporting to the Payroll Manager, supporting monthly payrollactivities as well as any ad-hoc tasks that may arise. Paying up to £25k pro-rata.

**Key responsibilities of the Payroll Clerk**:

- Responsible for the accurate input of monthly payroll within agreed timescales
- Assist with payroll calculations included but not limited to overtime, maternity/paternity
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to internal and external partners
- Answer any payroll related queries from employees and within the team
- Manage and monitor the payroll mailbox
- Ensure compliance with all statutory legislation - PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, GDPR, and pensions
- Help the payroll manager with payroll, benefits, sickness, and annual leave processes
- Responsible for the input to the auto enrolment company pension scheme. Understanding the scheme rules to ensure deductions are made at the correct time and are accurate

**About you as the Payroll Clerk**:

- Previous experience of working as a Payroll administrator within a fast-paced environment is essential
- Available to start work at a short notice
- Able to administer all monthly payroll tasks including starters, leavers, and amendments
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to identify and escalate any impending problems or issues to the payroll manager or business unit in a timely manner
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office functions, particularly Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of iTrent payroll would be desirable
