Head of Commercial

As a business that is already well established within the UK Infrastructure market, NGE have worked on a number of the UK's most prestigious Major Projects and Alliance Partnerships in the last few years (inc' HS1, HS2, Crossrail, CRSA and Optical Fiber Deployment).

Together we are seeing rapid and continual growth, with a pipeline of existing and tendered projects and Alliances.

To support this growth and the development we are looking for an ambitious and innovative **Head of Commercial with a background in large scale infrastructure projects, to join the Senior Leadership Team **and to lead the commercial function, based out of their London Head Office.

As the Head of Commercial, you will be a self-motivated and driven individual who will lead on all commercial aspects within the construction sector inclusive of potential, existing and new contracts across a portfolio of clients/suppliers. The Head of Commercial will also be accountable for managing commercial risk and communicating this across a variety of stakeholders within the business. You will be responsible for service improvement of the function and promoting collaboration between the regional offices, working closely with the Commercial Director on process improvement and the implementation of standardisation of commercial procedures.

Key areas
- **Previous track record in a senior commercial role within large scale infrastructure projects**:

- **Working/current knowledge of NEC3/4**:

- Previously led in standardising commercial process across the business
- Commercial process improvement across regional teams and wider business including project performance reporting and forecasting
- Advising the business on the differing construction industry standard form of contracts
- Identify and manage commercial risk on new and existing contracts
- Quantifying and costing of infrastructure/construction works
- Accountable for contract compliance and performance
- Management of commercial advice to teams outside of the commercial function
- Prepare and implement contract commercial management processes
- Identifying, valuing and negotiating contractual change
- Builds strong and collaborative relationships with key clients and suppliers
- Negotiate contract agreements and manage contractual obligations
- Contract administration including advice on contractual matters, formulating contractual/legal correspondence
- Ability to work in a fast paced, changeable environment
- Work with Project Directors to ensure projects exceed commercial targets
- Procurement, tracking and improve performance of suppliers
- Perform continuous programme analysis with identification of any potential delays/risk
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial function and wider business

**Essential skills for the Head of Commercial**
- Previous experience within a Senior Commercial Management or Commercial Director position
- Experience of working on large scale infrastructure projects as a Commercial Manage or Commercial Director
- Previous experience working in a Tier 1/2 construction contractor or consultancy as a Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Director
- Previous experience working on high value complex Capital Delivery projects
- Previous experience working within the telco sector - desirable
- Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of NEC3/4 contracts (all options)
- Demonstratable knowledge/understanding of Construction law and standard forms of contract
- Knowledge of construction client standards
- A working understanding of valuation techniques and elemental cost analysis of construction works
- Experience of commercial process improvement, performance metrics and service excellence

Please be aware this Head of Commercial role is an office based role, with flexible working available but is not a remote / hybrid role. There will also be some requirement to travel to regional and client offices.
