We have a fantastic opportunity for a Dietitian keen to progress their career in diabetes. This is a fixed term for 12 months covering a secondment and maternity leave. You would be joining a well established diabetes team, with excellent support and development opportunities. The post holder would need good knowledge and experience in diabetes. We deliver services mainly via virtually working from home but also do face to face clinics, group sessions and home visits.

You would join our dietetic team consisting of 27 dietitians and 11 dietetic assistants with good admin support. As well as Diabetes, within the department we have specialities in Nutrition Support, Mental Health and Gastro. We are also train University of Hertfordshire Dietetic students. We have close links with our local teaching hospitals (Cambridgeshire University Hospitals, Papworth Hospital) and District General Hospitals Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Peterborough City Hospital)

For this role you will need to be HCPC registered.
- To deliver a specialist diabetes role for the Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Cambridge & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT)
- To work as a dietetic practitioner within uni-professional and multi-professional team environments with regular supervision
- To assess and treat a case load of patients in line with the model and process for dietetic consultations and maintain associated records
- Deliver a high standard of dietetic care in the community
- To deliver a large number of education and training sessions related to diabetes, such as DESMOND, DAFNE and PDAC
- To supervise or monitor the work of other dietetic staff, assistants and students

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services not only via inpatient and primary care setting but also with the community. These services include Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental & physical health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, Research & Development.

1. To provide a specialist dietetic service to diabetes MDT teams working with a wide variety of complex adult clients. The work will take into account such factors as the client’s presenting condition, past medical history, social factors and medication e.g. patients with diabetes who have requirements for nutrition support or gastroenterology.
2. To nutritionally diagnose, give appropriate advice and formulate treatment plans when consulting with patients, relatives and carers.
3. To consult adult diabetic clients as a sole practitioner or jointly with a DSN, either in their own homes or in community settings. This will include clients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
4. To deliver Structured Programmes of Education with a DSN or other member of Diabetes Team.
5. To support the department diabetes dietetic team in the development and maintenance of clinical standards, guidelines, pathways and evidence based practice in diabetes.
6. To develop and update written resources, for example diet sheets and patient advice leaflets.
7. To liaise with wider MDT and external providers to improve patient access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (MSK) and attain optimal patient outcome.
8. Advise on the safe and appropriate use of prescribed nutritional supplements for patients taking account of the influence they have on diabetes.
9. Act as a point of reference on the management and treatment of diabetes for non specialist colleagues and other health professionals, giving advice and supporting their clinical practice.
10. Provide training and updates about diabetes and related issues to a wide range of audiences including colleagues, catering staff, health and social care staff, carers and clients.
11. Maintain accurate records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session, using the Nutrition and Dietetic Process and Model for consultations.
12. Complete Templates on SystmOne as required
13. To work within the dietetic departmental clinical standards and evidence based practice and within professional boundaries
14. To support the department's Preceptorship Scheme when appropriate.
15. To participate in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service specific emergency preparedness process
16. To attend all relevant business and education meetings, unless on authorised leave or permission has been obtained from line manager.
17. To complete department competency frameworks relevant to your post.
18. To be peer reviewed at least twice per year. At least one must be undertaken in a clinical setting and be cond
