**Summary**:
The mission of the Directorate of Defence Communications (DDC) is to protect and enhance the reputation of the Dept and the Armed Forces both internally and externally, through influencing the understanding, activities and perceptions of domestic and international stakeholders and audiences.
The External Campaigns team is a crucial part of the delivery area of DDC, focused on designing and implementing longer term, proactive multi-channel campaigns on departmental priorities.
This post is advertised as 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
This is one of three SEO posts in External Campaigns; this post will lead the ‘Innovation and Investment’ portfolio, working alongside the ‘People’ portfolio as part of the UK Armed Forces are a Force for Good at Home campaign area. The post holder will work closely with their portfolio counterparts in the Events, News and Strat Plans teams within DDC, representing Campaigns at ministerial meetings.
MOD currently operates a hybrid working model and you will be expected to work from our Whitehall offices for three out of five weekdays.
**Responsibilities**:
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver the Force for Good: Innovation portfolio, evaluating activity at regular intervals and adjusting campaign planning as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members across Campaigns and Events to support the Force for Good: Innovation, Force For Good: People and Global Britain In Action campaign areas, ensuring that the HEOs have a broad understanding of all three portfolios. All three SEOs are expected to be able to operate across all areas as required/depending on prioritisation.
- Operate as part of a cross DDC team on this portfolio area, contributing to planning and co-ordinating delivery activities with Strat Plans and News colleagues.
- Represent the Campaigns team at ministerial level meetings.
- Work with the TLBs to identify comms opportunities, particularly DE&S and Dstl.
- Sell in feature stories and manage media interest from non-news channels.
- Ensure the delivery of creative, engaging, and innovative content on defence social media.
