**Summary**:

- The central internal communications team is focused on increasing staff engagement across Defence, coordinating pan-Defence campaigns across 19 organisations, located in over 4,000 sites across the world, to over 250,000 people.
- With experience in Internal Communications or a related discipline, you will successfully work with senior leaders and policy stakeholders to develop high-quality internal communications campaigns, materials, and activities that engage and inform the diverse mix of Defence employees and support the delivery of organisational priorities.
- You will work closely with your counterparts in IC teams across the whole of Defence, as well as other parts of the Directorate of Defence Communications (DDC) - such as News, External Campaigns, and Strategy/Plans - to develop and co-deliver campaigns and coordinate materials and activity.- Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay related allowances which could impact on those allowances that the post currently being advertised attracts.**Job description**:

- You will develop campaigns, materials, and activities that engage Defence employees and support organisational change, built upon the four ‘Engage for Success’ enablers (vision and leadership; engaging managers; hearing staff voice; and organisational integrity).
- You will have experience in a communications discipline such as internal communications, press, PR, marketing, or stakeholder communications. You will be able to work flexibly, effectively, and creatively with staff at all levels, sometimes under pressure.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of internal communication/digital/social media channels and methods and will have the confidence and ability to build and maintain good relationships with a wide range of people at all grades and ranks. You will have an excellent writing ability and strong interpersonal skills.
- This role reports to a Senior Communications Officer (IC) within the Directorate of Defence Communications.
- Defence currently operates a hybrid working model and you will be expected to work from our Whitehall offices at least two days a week. Flexibility is key, with some weeks requiring you to be in the office more days and other weeks you may not be required to be in the office at all.- You are advised to examine the full version of the 'GCS Professional Competency Framework' attached to this advert and found here:**Responsibilities**:

- Specifically, you are expected to:
- Work closely with teams across DDC and other Defence organisations (TLBs), develop, co-ordinate, and implement long-range, proactive, multi-channel/multi-media internal communications campaigns, materials, and activities that are based on insight and effectively evaluated.
- Identify, create, and exploit potential communication activity. This will involve originating multimedia content (copywriting, video production, photography, infographics, posters, and blogs) and placing them onto suitable internal and social channels.
- Ensure content is produced based on audience insight: their information consumption behaviour, attitude, channel adoption.
- Provide professional and comprehensive internal communications advice to stakeholders across Defence, across all ranks and grades, pushing back as needed.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary’s office and the Chief Operating Officer, counterparts across Defence, and relevant policy officials to develop long-term effective partnerships.
- Working flexibly, you may also work to support the other arms of the DDC IC Team, as priorities shift, and resources need to flex.
- Prioritise your personal development and training, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement within the team.
