Teaching Personnel have been approached by a school in Doncaster who require a Youth Worker to help a cohort of boys within Year 9 who are currently disengaged for their education. The school is a specialist SEN provision which caters for boys and girlsages 11-16 who have complex SEMH difficulties and often displays very challenging behaviours. The school attempts to provide specialist and individualised support for each pupil who attends this school and uses therapeutic measures to help resolve some oftheir barriers to their education. Many pupils who attend this provision have previously had a bad experience at school and have been persistently absent. Therefore, this provision has a wide and varied curriculum which can appeal to the strengths of eachpupil and help them to re-engage.

As a youth worker, you will be responsible for:

- Helping a cohort of pupils to engage in their lessons
- Be a motivator for pupils when they do not want to attend
- Build rapport with pupils
- Advocate for them when others are planning a individualised curriculum
- Support pupils in and outside of lessons

Previous experience in a PRU setting would be great but isn’t essential as full training will be given, and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facingindustries including retail, hospitality and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures.

Already qualified to or willing to work towards your NVQ3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in School, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, able to work the required shifts, and be motivated to provide a safe, caring environment where every child canthrive.

The pay for this role will be £70 per day.

This is a full time role spanning across school hours Monday - Friday.
