**What will you be doing as a Health & Safety Assistant?**
- Supporting the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring a safe working environment is maintained and that the depot is operating within health and legal requirements.
- Record and monitor accidents, incidents, near misses, hazards and property damage in conjunction with health and safety manager.
- Create risk assessments and safe systems of work with guidance from the health and safety manager.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with the most up to date SHE format.
- Set up and maintain electronic and manual filing systems.
- Fully support the audit process.
- To support and assist the site management team in conducting a full and thorough investigation for all accidents and incidents and ensuring a follow up of any corrective action is undertaken.
- Update the minimum safety standard report.
- Collect and compile the KPI data for monthly reporting.
- Perform site audits such as safety tours etc.
- Take minutes for Health and Safety meetings.
- Produce supporting materials for presentations, inductions and workshops.
- Other adhoc administration duties.
**Relevant skills and experience as a Health & Safety Assistant**:
- Knowledge of BS OHSAS 18001 would be an advantage.
- Excellent I.T. skills with working experience of Excel, word and powerpoint.
- Ability to communicate at all levels professionally and discreetly.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in health and safety, preferably with previous experience in this area.
- Enthusiasm, organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Self disciplined and an effective personal/time planner.
